Category: accessible Devices
Hi, all. Sorry if this topic has already been covered somewhere, but I don't see it, and really don't have the patience to go digging through tons of archives. If you know of a thread that covers this, feel free to post the link to it, and I'll go read that.
But, for now, I'll ask my question, and hope some of you have answers. I'm going to need to order a new talking caller ID box in the very near future. Mine is dying pretty quickly. It's lasted over five years though, and through plenty of moves, so it was a quality unit. Right now, I have the one that Qwest used to sell. It's completely accessible, far more than the ones I've heard of that are sold by a lot of the blindness specific companies, like ILA or NFB. However, Qwest has since stopped selling their talking box, so I'm going to need to go somewhere else.
Do any of you have recommendations of where I should order this from, and what kind of box I should get? What is the most accessible unit you've seen? Thanks in advance for any help.
OK, so today I just tried the Voice Anounce, made by Classco. It was recommended to me by a friend. But it is largely inaccessible, as are the other boxes I have seen. Maybe I'm just spoiled, because I started out with a fully accessible ID box, and am now having to take a major step backward. I have a friend of mine searching Ebay and other places for the Qwest one, so hopefully that yields something.
try lssproducts.com. I got a talking caller ID box that is completely accessible from them, but I am not sure if they still make it.
Hmm, do you know the make and model of it? The brand name?
No. It has been a while since I got it. Two years ago. Do you want their phone number to talk to a person about talking caller ID's?
Sure, I'd appreciate that.
I'd appreciate that info, as well. Please post it here.
